All clear after bomb squad inspects suspicious package at Fort Lauderdale dealership

Police and bomb squad officers responded to check out what was thought to be a suspicious package at a Fort Lauderdale car dealership on Wednesday.

Fort Lauderdale Police said they were called to the Ed Morse Bayview Cadillac in the 1200 block of North Federal Highway at around 10:05 a.m. regarding a possible suspicious package.

Chopper6 had the first images of the scene, showing what appeared to be a suitcase on the ground near the open trunk of a Maserati. A bomb squad robot was a few feet away.

A first responder in a bomb suit later approached the luggage, opened it and began removing what looked like clothes before walking away.

Officials later said that officers determined the package wasn’t suspicious and cleared the scene.

The incident caused traffic issues on North Federal Highway before the roadway was reopened.
