After historic cold snap in Florida, chilly weather is still expected

After a historic cold snap hit Florida, the Sunshine State isn’t in the clear yet as cold weather is expected in the coming week.

On Sunday, it was Miami’s coldest Feb. 1 on record, and the 35° low temp was the coldest since 2010.

Miami and Fort Lauderdale had wind chills down to 26° while Kendall dropped to 23°.

Due to the weather, a Cold Weather Advisory was back in effect Sunday night. Because the temps are a notch higher and the winds a notch lower, wind chills may settle in the mid to upper 20s in Miami-

On Monday, it will be bright and sunny, but highs may struggle to make it up to 60°, and it will be cold again on Tuesday morning, with wind chills in the 30s, but warmer temps arrive later in the day and especially on Wednesday.

Another cold front on Thursday means there’s another chance at cold weather Thursday morning.

As the cold front swept through South Florida, bringing historically low temperatures, it comes as no surprise that many iguanas have been left frozen and immobile.

Airports in South Florida also saw flight delays and cancellations.
