4 stabbed, one hospitalized in late-night Oceanside attacks at the beach
Four people were wounded Monday, one severely, in a predawn series of stabbings in a seafront neighborhood in Oceanside.
Patrol officers responding to a report of an assault found the victims — three of them male and one female — near a set of beach stairs at Cassidy and South Pacific streets shortly after 2:30 a.m., according to the Oceanside Police Department.
Paramedics took the victims to hospitals, where one of them was admitted in critical condition and the others were treated for less serious injuries, according to the department’s Gina Avalos.
About a half-hour after the stabbings occurred, officers arrested a suspect in the 500 block of Fredricks Avenue and confiscated two knives from him, according to police.
The suspect’s identity, the victims’ ages and details on the circumstances that led to the assaults remained unavailable Monday afternoon.
