4 dead in crash on New Jersey Turnpike in Carneys Point Township, police say

Crews were working overnight in Carneys Point Township early Sunday after, officials said, a crash along the New Jersey Turnpike left four people dead.
According to police, at about 1 a.m., a crash occurred along the New Jersey Turnpike headed southbound, south of Exit 1, in Carneys Point Township.
Officials said two vehicles were involved in this crash and four people were killed. However, as of about 7 a.m. on Sunday, officials have not yet provided further information on how the crash occurred or the identities of those who were killed in this incident.
Another person, police said, was injured in the crash and has been hospitalized. Though, this individual’s condition was not immediately provided by police.
Due to the crash, all lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike through that area were closed as of 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Traffic, officials said, was only getting through that area by using the right shoulder of the roadway.
An investigation into this incident, officials said, is ongoing.
