3 kids, 1 adult hurt in school bus crash in Wyoming County

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Three kids and one adult were hurt in a school bus crash in Wyoming County last week, the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Police responded to the intersection of State Route 98 and Chaffee Road, in the Town of Java, around 4 p.m. on Oct. 9. Investigation found that the bus was turning left onto Chaffee when it was hit by a Jeep driving southbound.

Nineteen children were on the bus at the time of the crash. Of the three that were hurt, two were transported to Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. In addition, the driver of the Jeep, 56-year-old Kevin Gremmel of Arcade, was transported to Wyoming County Community Hospital for evaluation.

The driver of the bus, 66-year-old Donald Howe of Deleven, was issued a traffic citation.

The crash remains under investigation.
