28th annual Lexus Corporate Run returns to downtown Fort Lauderdale with road closures in effect

More than 4,500 runners and walkers from nearly 200 companies are expected to take part in the 28th annual Lexus Corporate Run in downtown Fort Lauderdale Thursday evening, with several street closures already in effect around the race route.

The 5K run/walk kicks off at 6:45 p.m. at Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd St.

Organizers call it “Fort Lauderdale’s Largest Office Party,” with 198 companies registered to participate.

Drivers should expect significant street closures and detours in the area running through Thursday night.

Key closures include:

  • Wednesday, April 1, from 11 p.m. through Thursday, April 2, at 11 p.m.

SW 2 St from Avenue of the Arts to SW 5 Ave is closed.
SW 5 Ave closed from Broward Blvd to SW 2 St (only access from Broward Blvd to the Arts and Science District Garage permitted).

  • Thursday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

SW 4 Ave closed from Broward Blvd to SW 2 St (only deliveries to Museum of Discovery loading docks permitted).

  • Thursday, April 2, from 12 noon to 11 p.m.

SW 2 St closed from SW 4 Ave to S Andrews (only local traffic).

Additional closures along the race route will take effect between 6:15 and 10 p.m. Thursday, including stretches of 7th Avenue and Davie Boulevard.

Police will allow local traffic through certain restricted areas between runners to accommodate residents.

Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes and avoid the downtown core on Thursday evening.
