Seven people have been hospitalized — two of them teenagers – after, police said, they were all shot in a shooting that happened in Trenton, late Tuesday night.

According to police, the incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Centre and Furman Streets in Trenton, New Jersey.

At that time, Detective Lieutenant David Ordille, of the Trenton Police Department said, officers responded to reports of gunfire to find “several victims” suffering from gunshot wounds.

All of these individuals, who Ordille did not immediately provide additional identifying information on, were taken to nearby hospitals where, he said, two of them were listed in critical condition.

The remaining victims, he said, were listed in stable condition.

At the scene, evidence markers littered the ground throughout the intersection overnight and a vehicle nearby could be seen with a shattered back window following the incident.

In a noontime update, Trenton Police Department Director Steve Wilson said over fifty shots were fired in this incident and the victims included a boy and a girl, both teenagers, along with five adults.

He said the victim’s ages range from 17 to 30 years old.

As of about 12:05 p.m., Wilson said six of the victims were hospitalized in stable condition and one remaining in critical condition.

Though, he declined to provide further identifying information on the victims and the severity of their injuries.

Wilson also said police were unsure if the individuals were hurt in a “shooting or a shootout” between separate gunmen.

And, he did not share any new information on a suspect — or suspects — in this case.

But, at a press event on Wednesday, Trenton Mayor W. Reed Gusciora said whoever the shooters were in this incident, they will face consequences.

“Violence has no place in this city and anyone who chooses to endanger the lives of others will face the consequences of their actions,” the mayor said.

And, while an investigation into this incident remains ongoing, the mayor said he plans to discuss lowering Trenton’s curfew in the hopes of preventing further violent incidents.

“We want the kids safe, they should be at home,” he said.

Trenton currently has a curfew that makes it illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to be in a public place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., between Sept. 1 through June 30. In July, those hours run from midnight through 6 a.m.

Gusciora said he will discuss lowering the curfew times with City Council in the near future.

An investigation into this incident remains ongoing, officials said.

This is a breaking news story. It will be updated as new information becomes available.
