2 drivers killed in wrong-way crash that shut down U.S. 27 in Weston
Two drivers were killed in a wrong-way crash on U.S. 27 in Weston early Wednesday, authorities said.
The crash happened sometime after midnight at the 37-mile marker, near the exit for Interstate 75 and State Road 84, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
According to FHP, a Range Rover crashed into a Nissan Altima before the Range Rover caught fire with the driver still trapped inside. It was not immediately clear which vehicle was going the wrong way on the road.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been provided.
The northbound lanes were closed and reopened at 6:58 a.m., FHP said.
The crash remains under investigation.
